Who said you need get married in your twenties and have the biggest wedding you can afford to have a happy life and great memories? When you just met, fell in love and decided to tie the knot, there is a lot of hope expressed. You are generally full of optimism and joy. However, there is something very special about saying ‘I do” to someone you’ve spent nearly two decades with, raised your son (who can now walk you down the aisle and be a proud best man, too) and built a life together. I’d say if, after all that you still want to get married, you are among the luckiest of all!
Boutique wedding is the answer
To me, having an intimate, boutique wedding, in your friends’ villa (OK, you need to be lucky to have friends like that), surrounded by your best friends and even a young crowd of your kid’s best friends, is the best option. From the guests choice, wedding ceremony, and style, to your music choice, you do everything on your own terms. And, let me tell you, these guys partied like the was no tomorrow, putting the hip youngsters to shame.
Jo & Brian wanted to create a sophisticated and elegant wedding, delightfully styled with lots of white roses, and a bit of glam of silver centerpieces and candelabras. However, being so full of mischief, they also included a few personalized messages and warnings for the friends.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a devoted and enthusiastic wedding planner and a coordinator, who, even when she twisted her ankle, kept calm and carried on like nothing’s happened. Only Tara can do that and still joke about it thru tears running down her cheeks.
