I first met with Kylie and Alex a couple of months before their wedding to chat briefly about their expectation about their wedding photography and what I had to offer.
It was a hot day and a nice little prelude to an even hotter wedding day in July.
Their excitement certainly was contagious – just before they met with me, they’d finished their meeting with lovely Gayle, their wedding celebrant.
So we sat there, in Alhaurin el Grande, sipping coffee, talking weddings.
Setting expectations
As a wedding photographer, I not only need to capture my clients’ wedding to the best of my abilities but I also feel the need to manage my clients’ expectations.
See, what a working professional with years of experience knows may not be common knowledge.
That’s why it is so important to talk about the details before your big day and know what is and what is not possible (and a lot is!). If you are looking for a wedding photographer in Malaga or Marbella, you may want to check here to know what questions to ask.
It’s funny to learn what people think is very simple – and often is not – and what some think as very difficult – and it often is dead simple.
Anyway, we sat there, in the Spanish sun, talking about timelines, ideas, workflow and coming workshops (yay for me!) and truly, just life. And when I checked the time, all of the sudden, 3 hours passed.
We were all set and ready for the big day!
And, I feel, on that day, both parties delivered 🙂
The Wedding Day
When I arrived at their stunning wedding venue, Cortijo Rosa Blanca, both Kylie and Alex were beyond enthusiastic. I definitely feed of my clients’ energy and there was a lot of it that day.
They great fun, lots of family and friends around them and it felt like the party had already started.
And you kind of know when two people were made for each other? When they exchange their wedding gifts and find out they each bought an exactly the same gift for the other one! Two peas in a pot.
And here’s a wonderful note I received from Kylie & Alex:
“Hi Anna,
How are you? I hope it’s cooling, and quietening down for you now.
I know you sent the photos a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve taken our time to review them – but I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you from Alex and I. We honestly struck gold when we booked you as our photographer. The day we met you back in April, we both walked away knowing that you were the right person for the job, and even then we were excited to see what you’d capture. You have in no way disappointed us!
You are one extremely talented photographer, who should be incredibly proud of making married couple like us so happy. The photos you have taken will be treasured by us and our families for a lifetime. The moments you’ve immortalised in photo are beyond what we’d ever hoped for. So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us such beautiful pictures to look back on over and over again.”
